Backcountry Conditions

Mary and Anna having an amazing day

The Shames Mountain Ski area is surrounded by more than 7,000 acres of limitless backcountry adventures. The backcountry is part of what makes Shames so unique.

Shames Mountain Backcountry is not patrolled. The responsibility of Shames' Ski Patrol is limited to the patrons within our clearly marked ski area boundary.

Be Prepared

MMC/Shames Mountain does not assume any liability or risk associated with any activities outside of the ski area boundary. It is the duty of the backcountry adventurer to be prepared.  We recommend having taken educational courses, having up to date gear and appropriate level of fitness, and having reviewed the current avalanche information prior to leaving the area boundary.
